Food Preparation and Cooking:
- Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to recipes and plating guidelines.
- Follow portion control, presentation standards, and quality expectations.
- Operate cooking equipment (e.g., grill, fryer, oven, stove) safely and accurately.
- Taste test dishes to ensure the correct flavor, texture, and quality before service.
Inventory and Stock Management:
- Check and prepare station before and after each shift, ensuring all items are available and fresh.
- Monitor ingredient levels and communicate any shortages to the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager.
- Properly label and store all food items to ensure freshness and prevent cross-contamination.
Sanitation and Food Safety:
- Adhere to food safety regulations, including proper handwashing, glove use, and safe food handling practices.
- Clean and sanitize workstation and equipment before, during, and after shifts.
- Ensure that all food items are stored at safe temperatures and according to food safety guidelines.
- Dispose of expired or unusable ingredients following restaurant policies.
Kitchen Operations Support:
- Communicate effectively with other line cooks and kitchen staff to coordinate food preparation.
- Assist in other areas of the kitchen as needed, including food prep, dishwashing, and cleaning.
- Contribute to a positive kitchen environment, supporting a team-oriented approach.
- Adapt to changing menus and assist in testing or creating new recipes as directed.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on kitchen equipment, such as grills, fryers, and ovens.
- Report any equipment issues or malfunctions to the Kitchen Manager immediately.
- Follow proper procedures for handling and disposing of kitchen waste and recyclables.
