OCTAPLAS INDUSTRIAL SERVICES, INC., (OISI) is a corporation engaged in the plastics manufacturing, packaging, and tolling business. The company has been servicing the various requirements for plastic crates, floorings, trays, and other products of different industries from the manufacturing of plastic products to the supplying of tolling services for commercial and industrial uses. The company’s story began when its founders participated in environmental programs and promoted educational awareness on plastic recycling by actively distributing flyers and conducting teach-ins at schools and villages. Afterward, the founders also (a) worked with the (i) Industrial Technology Development Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (ITDI – DOST); and (ii) PET manufacturers and users under the “PET Recycling Task Force” (“Misyon PET”) on the recycling of PET plastics and reduction of plastic waste and, (b) was then recognized by the World Bank Group (Environmental Monitor 2001) for its successful environmental awareness campaign. The project became instrumental in bringing environmental awareness to the Filipino public and provided an additional source of income to consumers as a whole.
