Bookkeeper

Job Overview: The Bookkeeper is a key financial role responsible for managing cost accounting and general accounting activities within the organization. This position plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial data, cost analysis, and financial reporting to support decision-making and financial planning.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Cost Accounting:
    • Maintain and update cost accounting records, including product costs, standard costs, and cost variances.
    • Analyze production costs and inventory levels to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  2. Financial Analysis:
    • Prepare cost analysis reports to provide insights into cost drivers, cost trends, and opportunities for cost savings.
  3. General Accounting:
    • Process general accounting transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
    • Perform reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  4. Financial Reporting:
    • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
    • Support external audits and ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
  5. Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements in cost accounting and general accounting procedures.
    • Suggest and implement efficiency enhancements and automation where applicable.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 
  • Proven experience in cost accounting and general accounting roles, preferably in a manufacturing or similar industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and cost accounting methodologies.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management and analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret financial data and recommend actions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and cost accounting software is a plus.
