Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Daily Operations Oversight
Supervise and coordinate day-to-day solid waste collection, segregation, hauling, and disposal activities.
Monitor route efficiency and ensure timely completion of waste collection schedules.
Ensure that operations comply with local environmental laws (e.g., RA 9003 - Ecological Solid Waste Management Act).
2. Staff Management
Supervise field personnel, including drivers, garbage collectors, and material recovery facility (MRF) workers.
Schedule shifts, monitor attendance, and address personnel issues.
Conduct safety briefings and ensure use of PPE and safe work practices.
Coordinate vehicle and equipment assignments and ensure proper maintenance.
Monitor fuel usage, vehicle conditions, and initiate repairs as necessary.
Maintain inventory of waste collection tools and materials.
Maintain daily operational logs and submit regular reports to the Operations Manager or LGU officials.
Ensure compliance with DENR, LGU ordinances, and other regulatory bodies.
Assist in documentation for audits and inspections.
Respond to customer complaints or concerns related to waste collection services.
Coordinate with barangay officials, LGUs, and communities regarding scheduled pickups or clean-up drives.
Help in the implementation of information, education, and communication (IEC) campaigns for waste segregation.
Oversee implementation of recycling, composting, and other waste reduction programs.
Work with MRF staff to track volume and type of recyclable materials recovered.
Support initiatives aligned with Zero Waste goals or LGU solid waste programs.
Ensure that operations follow health and safety protocols.
Conduct risk assessments and recommend preventive measures.
Handle minor emergencies or accidents involving staff or equipment.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Public Administration, or a related field.
With 2-5 years of experience in waste management logistics, operations, or field supervision preferred.
Experience working with LGUs or DENR is a plus.
Strong knowledge of solid waste management practices and environmental regulations (RA 9003).
Leadership and team supervision
Basic mechanical knowledge of trucks and MRF equipment
Report preparation and data analysis
Strong coordination and communication skills
Computer literacy (MS Excel, Word, etc)
TESDA NC II or higher (Heavy Equipment Operation, Environmental Management)
Safety Training (BOSH or COSH)
DENR-accredited training on waste management
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to different waste management facilities as needed.
