Job Summary:

The Collections Team Leader is responsible for supervising and guiding a team of collection executives to achieve targets in debt recovery and account resolution. This role involves monitoring performance, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, handling escalations, and driving strategies to improve collection efficiency while maintaining strong customer relations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of collection executives to meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets.
  • Monitor and review collection activities to ensure effectiveness and adherence to company policies.
  • Provide coaching, training, and support to team members for performance improvement.
  • Handle escalated customer issues and negotiate payment arrangements when necessary.
  • Track team performance through KPIs (e.g., collection rates, productivity, call quality).
  • Prepare and present performance reports to management.
  • Implement collection strategies and recommend process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments (Credit, Risk, Legal, Customer Service) for account resolution.
  • Promote a positive, goal-driven work environment that encourages teamwork and accountability.


Qualifications – Team Leader (Collections Executive)

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or any related field (preferred but not always required).
  • At least 1–3 years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or credit management.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of supervisory/team leader experience in a collections or call center environment.


Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong knowledge of collections processes, skip tracing, and negotiation techniques.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook) and collections management systems/CRM tools.
  • Ability to analyze reports and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the team.


Leadership & Interpersonal Skills

  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team to achieve targets and maintain high performance.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
  • Ability to manage escalations and resolve customer concerns effectively.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.

  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends or extended hours if needed.
  • Results-driven mindset with strong focus on meeting deadlines and targets.
  • Adaptability to fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
