1. Regulatory Compliance: Monitor adherence to local safety standards and project-specific rules.

2. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control: Conduct pre-work and regular site inspections to identify risks (falling objects, electrical hazards, heavy equipment risks, etc.). Develop and implement corrective actions to eliminate or minimize dangers.

3. Training & Orientation: Deliver mandatory safety orientation for new hires, plus ongoing training on PPE use, emergency procedures, equipment operation, and hazard communication.

4. Emergency Preparedness: Create, update, and test emergency response plans (fire, first aid, evacuation, natural disasters). Coordinate drills and ensure first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and other safety equipment are fully functional.

5. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of incidents, near-misses, inspections, training sessions, and safety audits. Prepare regular reports for site management, clients, and regulatory bodies.

6. Site Oversight: Supervise work activities to ensure compliance with safety procedures, intervene in unsafe practices immediately, and work with supervisors to address safety concerns.

7. Safety Culture Building: Promote a positive safety culture by engaging with workers, addressing feedback, and recognizing safe behavior.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field; plus relevant certifications BOSH and COSH

- Experience: 2+ years of safety officer experience in construction (preferably on large-scale infrastructure projects).

- Knowledge: Proficiency in construction safety regulations, risk assessment methodologies, and emergency management.

- Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities; attention to detail; ability to work in outdoor/physical site conditions.
