The Medical Billing Personnel / Cashier is responsible for accurately processing patient payments, handling medical billing, insurance claims, and ensuring smooth financial transactions in a primary care clinic. This role involves verifying insurance, processing invoices, and providing excellent customer service to patients regarding their billing inquiries.

1. Billing & Payment Processing

• Accurately generate and process invoices for patient services.
• Collect and post patient payments (cash, credit, insurance co-pays).
• Verify insurance eligibility and coverage before appointments.

2. Insurance & Claims Management

• Prepare and submit insurance claims in a timely manner.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate with insurance companies for approvals and clarifications.

3. Financial Reconciliation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate financial records of daily transactions.
• Reconcile end-of-day cash and credit transactions.
• Generate billing and financial reports as needed.

4. Customer Service & Patient Support

• Assist patients with billing inquiries and payment plans.
• Explain insurance coverage, out-of-pocket costs, and deductibles.
• Address patient concerns professionally and efficiently.

5. Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, insurance policies, and clinic protocols.
• Maintain confidential patient financial records.
• Keep up to date with medical billing regulations and coding changes.

Education: College graduate.

• Associate’s degree or certification in Medical Billing, Accounting, or Healthcare Administration.
• Licensure & Certification
• Certified Medical Billing & Coding Specialist (CMBCS), if applicable.

Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of medical billing codes (ICD-10, CPT).
• Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and billing software.
• Strong numerical, organizational, and multitasking skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities.

Experience

• 1–2 years of experience in medical billing, cashiering, or healthcare finance.
