The Certified Orthotist and Prosthetist is responsible for the fabrication, adjustment, and repair of orthotic and prosthetic devices. This role involves working closely with patients to ensure that devices are custom-fitted, functional, and meet individual needs. The CPO must possess strong technical skills and attention to detail to ensure high-quality outcomes.
· Construct, modify, and repair orthotic and prosthetic devices based on prescriptions, measurements, and specifications.
· Use various tools and machinery, including casting and molding equipment, to create custom devices.
· Assist in fitting devices to patients, ensuring proper alignment, comfort, and functionality.
· Make necessary adjustments to devices to achieve optimal performance and comfort.
· Communicate with patients to gather information about their needs and preferences.
· Provide guidance and instructions to patients on the use and care of their devices.
· Inspect and test devices to ensure they meet quality standards and perform as intended.
· Document any issues or defects and take corrective actions as needed.
· Perform routine maintenance and repairs on orthotic and prosthetic devices.
· Ensure that all equipment and tools are maintained in good working condition.
· Maintain accurate records of patient interactions, device specifications, and modifications.
· Document all fabrication and adjustment processes as required.
· Adhere to all safety protocols and industry regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
· Ensure compliance with relevant standards and best practices in orthotics and prosthetics.
· Participate in team meetings and contribute to patient care plans and device improvements.
· Education: Associate’s degree or diploma in Orthotic and Prosthetic Technology or a related field. Certification from a recognized body is preferred.
· Experience: Previous experience as an orthotist and prosthetist or in a related field is highly desirable.

2. Fitting and Adjustment Quality
· Percentage of fittings that require adjustments after the initial fit (target: <X%).
· Patient satisfaction ratings related to fit and comfort (target: 85%+ satisfaction).
· Time taken to adjust (target: within X hours of the initial fitting).
3. Patient Interaction and Support
· Feedback from patients regarding the clarity of guidance provided (target: 85%+ satisfaction).
· Number of patient interactions documented (target: 100% documentation).
· Percentage of patients who report understanding device care instructions (target: 90%+ understanding).
4. Quality Control Standards
· Percentage of devices passing quality inspections on the first attempt (target: 98%+).
· Number of defects or issues identified post-delivery (target: <X defects per quarter).
· Regular review of quality control processes for effectiveness (target: quarterly reviews with no significant issues).
5. Maintenance and Repair Timeliness
· Average turnaround time for routine maintenance and repairs (target: within X days).

6. Accurate Documentation
