The Paralegal provides critical support to the Legal Department; it helps navigate growing volume and intricacy of legal work brought about by the company’s expanding operations. This role demands precision, organization and the ability to break down complex legal matters into clear, actionable insights—whether through executive briefs, visual aids, or summaries—to aid timely and sound decision-making. Beyond research and reporting, the Paralegal takes an active role in drafting and managing legal documents, overseeing contract workflows, tracking regulatory submissions, and providing research-backed input on key legal issues, most especially in labor, environmental, corporate law, and more, relative to the company’s operations. By easing the legal team’s administrative and analytical workload, the Paralegal supports improved risk management, ensures the timely fulfillment of regulatory obligations, and strengthens the overall legal readiness of the organization.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare 5–7 concise Executive Briefs daily on legal and industry developments relevant to the corporation’s operations to aid executive decision-making.
  • Analyze complex laws and jurisprudence and translate legal provisions into engaging visual summaries to promote stakeholder understanding of legal rights, duties, and implications.
  • Extract and summarize the content and implications of correspondences, pleadings, and government communications, highlighting critical deadlines and required actions.
  • Draft, examine, and review contracts using standardized templates and research-based practices; assist in negotiations of key agreements such as NDAs, MOAs, leases, and procurement contracts.
  • Draft corporate records such as Board Resolutions, Minutes, Secretary’s Certificates, and other special legal instruments for corporate structuring, project implementation, and compliance.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research on statutes, jurisprudence, and regulatory issuances to support arguments, notices, or internal advisory documents, particularly on labor, environmental, and corporate law.
  • Organize and maintain legal documentation involving regulatory filings and legal interactions with the SEC, MGB, NCIP, DOJ, courts, and other relevant agencies.
  • Validate and cross-check legal drafts and correspondence to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with legal standards prior to finalization.
  • Track and update regulatory submissions such as GIS and AFS; maintain compliance logs to ensure adherence to all statutory deadlines.
  • Create visual and textual presentation materials for internal meetings or legal briefings, ensuring clarity and impact in communicating key information.
  • Collate, review, and verify documents required for Exploration Permit Applications and coordinate with relevant internal and external stakeholders for timely submission.
  • Maintain a comprehensive contract inventory and tracking system detailing status, company, category, and pertinent timelines.
  • Conduct research and draft internal memos or legal articles on key regulatory, sustainability, ESG, and mining industry trends to enhance the department’s knowledge base.
  • Perform other legal and administrative tasks that may be assigned by the Legal Department Head or supervising lawyers.

Requisito

  • Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Legal Management, Political Science, Public Administration, or any related field.
  • Graduates with honors distinction, strong academic records, or notable involvement in research, debate, or leadership roles are preferred.
  • Background in Philippine law, legal procedures, and regulatory compliance is an advantage.
  • Experience is not strictly required, but prior exposure to legal research, drafting, or regulatory compliance—whether through internships, clinics, or academic work—is highly desirable.
  • Candidates with experience supporting a legal or compliance team in a corporate or government setting will have an advantage.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in legal writing, document organization, and the ability to synthesize complex legal materials.
